Where Is Your Faith Today?
1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) I just have to put this out there. When I was given the task of raising $13,000 for a service dog, I began to think to myself how in the world am I going to pull this off. My mind begins to close on how it was going to happen instead of opening to all the possibilities. Because in my mind we were in a recession and people just did not have the money to donate like that.
When we first applied, I was gunho that I was going to get a jump-start on it. I began fundraising before I even had the final answer that yes we had been accepted by the time we had actually gotten the yes I had raise right around $700 dollars for me it was a start but $12,300 surely did seem a mighty long way. Different ideas began to form World’s Finest Chocolate, basketball games, and many thoughts but as time move forward and things began to fall apart I started losing faith thinking it cannot be done it will not work and this dog situation is hopeless.
Ask me again why did I decide to test God’s faith in him and his people?
Fast-forward to the start of fall and out of nowhere I have people giving me ideas on how to raise money and people who I’ve either just met or simply know through someone else are stepping up putting their talents to use for Jonathan. I can defiantly say networking is everything and simply asking does a lot. Being afraid to ask someone was not the problem it was more or less having to hear no and trying to deal with it and move on without it letting it get to me.
So the next time someone tell you that people don’t care or that there aren’t any giving people in the world ask them have they simply ask before assuming!

SPIRIT NIGHT BENEFITING JONATHAN BROWN

On December 5 from 5p-8p Raising Cane's of North Charleston has pledge to give back 20% of it's profits to Jonathan for anyone who comes to the restaurant and places a order and hand the flyer to represent their cause to the cashier. Not only is this event going to be big it just so happens to be Jonathan's 6th birthday so he'll be in the building to thank everyone personally for their support from 5pm til 6pm. So even if your just spending a couple of bucks on a combo every little bit helps and we would appreciate your support. The flyer is being worked on as we speak and we are hoping to have that distributed later this week or early next week.
A little about Jonathan:
As parents we all have our dreams and exceptions of what our children should be like but have you ever thought about what it feels like to l
ive as a child who people see as different but as a parent, you see this child as a special little person who is unique in his or her own way. That is what I see when I look at Jonathan from the day he was born I became his advocate and his voice. Jonathan is an adorable five year who has been recently diagnose with Autism he was already diagnose with partial complex seizure disorder, cerebral palsy, asthma, hearing loss, and a large delay in communication, cognitive skills, sensory issues, as well as his ability not to recognize pain or danger. To take all of this and put it with a child who cannot express himself when he is upset is simply a volcano ready to explode because that is how intense his meltdowns are.
Many have asked well what a service dog can do to help him achieve and overcome these issues. A multiservice dog would be a complete blessing to Jonathan and me as well as offer him a variety of opportunities including reducing negative behaviors and tantrum outburst, decreasing sensory issues, increasing awareness of safety and the ability to calm him through the day. The dog itself is a great calming mechanism for Jonathan which will allow me to be able to take Jonathan to a public place and possible elevate the stress of dealing with meltdowns as well as small child in a wheelchair wondering off.
A nonprofit agency, 4 Paws for Ability partners with their clients and by doing so are able t
o place dogs without long waiting list. It will cost 4 Paws, $22,000 to place a dog with Jonathan. We are committed to raising $13,000 in support of the 4 Paws mission & can reach our goal with your company help. We are asking that your company makes a donation to help improve the quality of Jonathan's life so that he can continue to progress towards an independent.Tuesday, October 18, 2011
